Skiing in the Alps — Resort Skiing & Ski Touring

Skiing in the Alps

Two ways to ski the Alps with a mountain guide

From  Chamonix, France, Italy and Switzerland fit into the same week. At Nuyama, we guide skiing in two forms, depending on what you’re after: the best of the resorts, or ski touring far from the pistes.

Either way, an IFMGA mountain guide leads the week, picks the terrain by the snow and takes you where the conditions are best. All you have to do is ski.

🎿 Skiing in the Alps — The Best of the Resorts

Lifts, big ski areas, several countries in one week. Wide pistes to progress, nearby off-piste and the Vallée Blanche for those who want more. Everything within an hour of Chamonix, valley hotel included.

Ski the Alps — Chamonix (guided)

Three countries in one week, from a single base camp. France, Italy, Switzerland: your guide picks the resort each day by the snow, the Vallée Blanche included.

Ski dans les Alpes

Chamonix Winter Highlights — Women-Only

A week of skiing among women, female guide guaranteed. Chamonix, Courmayeur, Verbier, the Vallée Blanche — plus a midweek afternoon at the Pré-Saint-Didier thermal baths.

Ski the Alps — Self-Guided (en liberté)

⛷️ Skiing in the Alps — Ski Touring / Backcountry Skiing

Here, you earn your descent. Skinning up, descending untouched snow off the marked runs. Unspoilt terrain, far from the crowds, with a stay in a hut or guesthouse. For self-reliant skiers, at ease both on the climb and off-piste.

Ski dans les Alpes

Val Maira — Ski Touring

Four days of ski touring in an unspoilt valley of the Italian Piedmont. Wide bowls, spaced larches, a classic guesthouse. Transfer from Chamonix included.

Grand-Saint-Bernard Hospice — Ski Touring

A ski-touring weekend at the legendary pass, between Switzerland and Italy. Nights at the hospice, at nearly 2,470 m. The ideal terrain to get into ski touring or step up.

FAQ - Skiing

In resort, you ride the lifts and ski marked areas — with guided off-piste if you like. In ski touring, you climb on skis with skins and descend untouched snow, off the pistes.

Yes. Resort trips require you to be comfortable on red runs. Ski touring also requires you to be self-reliant on the climb and on off-piste descents, and to know how to use an avalanche transceiver.

An off-piste glacier itinerary from the Aiguille du Midi (3,842 m), up to 20 km of descent. Offered on the resort trips, guided with full safety equipment.

In resort, both are possible: guided or self-guided (with a guide as an option). Ski touring is always with an IFMGA mountain guide.

In resort: standard downhill gear. For touring: touring skis, skins, transceiver, shovel, probe. Everything can be rented in Chamonix — we can help with rental.

January to March. January and February bring the coldest, driest snow; March, longer days. Your guide chases the best conditions whatever the week.

In resort: a 4-star hotel in Chamonix, the same all week. For touring: a hut or guesthouse, half board.

The nearest airport is Geneva, about 1 hour from Chamonix. We can recommend transfer companies.
